About Mini Crossword on Suvi
The Mini is a small daily crossword: five squares by five, everyday words, fair clues, and a timer if you want one. Everyone gets the same Mini each day, so you can compare times with a friend without spoiling the answers. Tap a square and type, on the phone's big on-screen keyboard or a real one. Check marks a wrong square, Reveal shows a letter, and a clean solve (no checks, no reveals) earns the gold tick. There are 60 days of Minis ready now, and a new one every day after that, made and checked by our own crossword builder: every answer is a real word from our clue bank, nothing obscure, nothing rude.
How to play
- Tap a square, then type. Typing moves you along the word; tap the square again to switch between Across and Down.
- The clue for the word you're on sits above the keyboard. Use the arrows (or Tab) to move to the next clue.
- Backspace clears a square. Check shows wrong squares; Reveal fills one in.
- When every square is right the timer stops. Share your time without spoiling the grid.
Controls
On a phone or tablet: Tap a square, type on the big on-screen keyboard; tap a square twice to change direction; swipe the clue bar for the next clue.
On a desktop: Click a square and type. Arrow keys move, Tab goes to the next clue, Backspace clears, Space switches direction.
Tips
- Fill the words you're sure of first; every letter you place is a crossing for another clue.
- Short words lean on common letters: if a three-letter word is stuck, think E, A, S, T.
- If a clue could mean two things, try both: the crossing letters will tell you which.
- Plural clue, plural answer: the S at the end is often free.

- Is the Mini the same for everyone?
- Yes. Each day has one Mini, the same for every player in your time zone, so times are comparable and the share card never spoils it.
- How hard is it?
- Everyday words only. Most people finish in one to four minutes; a clean solve under a minute is the thing to brag about.
- Can I play past Minis?
- Yes. Today's is free for everyone, and while Suvi is new every past Mini is open too.
- Where do the clues come from?
- Our own clue bank, written for everyday words and checked for anything rude or obscure. If a clue seems unfair, tell us from the About page and we'll fix it.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Today's Mini is free with no account. One reveal a day is free, and while Suvi is new a few more are on us, with no ad to watch.
