About Mahjong on Suvi
Mahjong solitaire on Suvi is the tile-matching game: clear the layout by removing free pairs of identical tiles. A tile is free when nothing sits on top of it and at least one of its long sides is open. Every Suvi board is built backwards from a finished board, so it can always be completed: no dead deals, ever. There's a daily layout everyone shares, four layouts in all, hints and a shuffle for when you're stuck, undo, a timer and a share card. The tiles are drawn in code at a size you can read on a phone.
How to play
- Find two identical free tiles and tap them both to remove the pair. Flowers match any flower; seasons match any season.
- A tile is free when no tile covers it and either its left or its right side is open.
- Clear every tile to finish. Use a hint if you can't see a pair, or shuffle if none is available.
- Undo takes back a pair. Finish the daily layout to keep your streak.
Controls
On a phone or tablet: Tap a free tile, then tap its match. Turn your phone sideways or tap Bigger for larger tiles.
On a desktop: Click a free tile, then click its match.
Tips
- Remove tiles from the top layers and the long rows first: they free the most tiles.
- When all four of a kind are free, take them: they can't block you later.
- Don't rush a pair if a third copy is still buried: the fourth may be the one you need to dig it out.
- Flowers and seasons are wild within their group, so they're safe to clear early.

Questions
- Is every board really solvable?
- Yes. We deal each board in reverse from a finished layout, so a sequence of legal pairs always exists. Our bot plays every daily to the end before it goes live.
- What do the tiles mean?
- Three suits of 1 to 9 (dots, bamboo and characters), four winds, three dragons, four flowers and four seasons. Flowers match any flower and seasons any season; everything else matches only its twin.
- Is it free?
- Yes. All four layouts have a free daily board, plus two extra boards a day. While Suvi is new, every past daily board is open to everyone too.
- Why are the tiles small on my phone?
- The classic layout is wide. Turn your phone sideways, or tap Bigger to enlarge the board and scroll. The pyramid layout is also made for smaller screens.
- Is this the same as the four-player game?
- No. This is the single-player tile-matching game. The tiles are the same; the rules are different.
