About Word Scramble on Suvi
Word Scramble is a daily anagram puzzle: five words with their letters mixed up, getting longer as you go, from a four-letter warm-up to a seven-letter finish. Tap the letter tiles in order to spell each word, or type on a real keyboard. Any real word that uses every letter counts, so if the tiles spell LISTEN and you see SILENT, that's a solve too. Every word is an everyday one, picked from our checked word lists: no names, nothing obscure, nothing rude, and no word comes back for months. Everyone gets the same five each day, so you can compare times with a friend, and the share card shows how you did without giving the words away. Stuck? Shuffle the tiles for a fresh look, or take a hint to put the next letter in place.
How to play
- Look at the scrambled letter tiles and find the word they make.
- Tap the tiles in order to spell it in the spaces above. Tap a placed letter to send it back.
- When every space is filled with a real word, the next scramble slides in. Five words a day, four letters up to seven.
- Stuck? Shuffle mixes the tiles again; Hint puts the next correct letter in place. Your time and hints go on the share card.
Controls
On a phone or tablet: Tap a letter tile to place it in the next space; tap a placed letter to send it back. Shuffle, Clear and Hint sit under the tiles.
On a desktop: Type the word on your keyboard, or click the tiles. Backspace takes a letter back, Space shuffles, Esc clears.
Tips
- Look for common pairs and endings first: TH, CH, SH, ING, ED and ER often belong together.
- Try the vowels in different spots; the consonants usually fall into place around them.
- Shuffle is free and often shows you the word at a glance; a fresh order breaks the spell of the old one.
- If a long word won't come, place the letters you're sure of at the start and see what's left.
- Any real word that uses every letter counts, so the first one you spot is good enough.
Questions
- Is the word scramble the same for everyone?
- Yes. Each day has one set of five scrambled words, the same for every player, changing at midnight in your time zone. Times are comparable and the share card doesn't spoil the words.
- What if I find a different word with the same letters?
- It counts. Any real English word that uses every letter is accepted, checked against our word list. A hint, though, always points towards the word we picked.
- How hard is it?
- The words are everyday ones and get longer as you go: one of four letters, two of five, one of six and one of seven. Most people finish in a few minutes; the seven-letter word is the real test.
- How do hints work?
- A hint puts the next correct letter in place and fixes it there. Your first hint each day is free, and while Suvi is new more are on us, with no ad to watch. The share card shows which words needed one.
- Can I play more than one a day?
- Yes. After today's five you can play a couple of practice sets, and while Suvi is new every past day's scramble is open in the archive too.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Today's Word Scramble is free with no account and no download; it runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
