Bowling against the computer

Ten-pin bowling against the computer: ten frames each. Pick Easy, Medium or Hard.

About Bowling on Suvi

This page opens straight into a game of ten-pin bowling against the computer. You bowl a frame, then the computer bowls the same frame, and after ten frames the higher score wins. Easy bowls for fun and averages about 100; Medium is a league bowler at about 150; Hard finds the pocket and averages around 200. Slide the ball to where you want to stand, choose straight or a hook, then pull back on the lane and let go: a short line shows your aim and a bar shows the power. A hint shows the line the Hard computer would roll, your record at each level is kept on this device, and a game left half-way is waiting when you come back. Want a person instead? Two can share one phone, or send a friend a link.

How to play

  1. Drag the ball left or right along the foul line to choose where you stand.
  2. Tap the spin button to roll it straight, or to hook it left or right on the far half of the lane.
  3. Press on the lane, pull back towards you and let go: the ball goes the opposite way to your pull, and a longer pull rolls it faster.
  4. Knock all ten down with your first ball for a strike, or with both balls for a spare. Each player bowls a whole frame, then the other.
  5. After ten frames the higher score wins. The tenth frame gives bonus balls for a strike or a spare.

Controls

On a phone or tablet: Drag the ball to move it, tap the spin button to change the hook, then pull back on the lane and let go to bowl.

On a desktop: Drag the ball to move it and drag back on the lane to bowl, or use the keys: left and right move the ball, A and D aim, up and down set the power, S changes the spin and Space bowls. H asks for a hint.

Tips

Questions

How is bowling scored?
Each frame scores the pins you knock down. A strike (all ten with the first ball) scores ten plus your next two balls; a spare (all ten with two balls) scores ten plus your next ball. The tenth frame gives one or two bonus balls for a strike or spare, so a perfect game of twelve strikes is 300.
What happens to the pins after my first ball?
The fallen pins are swept away and the ones still standing are set back on their spots for your second ball, so you can see exactly what you need to pick up.
How good is the computer?
Easy bowls for fun and averages about 100; Medium bowls like a league player, about 150; Hard finds the pocket and picks up most spares, about 200. All three miss like people do, so every game is different.
Can two people play on one phone?
Yes. Choose Two players: each of you bowls a whole frame, then passes the phone, and the scorecards keep both games.
Can I play a friend online?
Yes: choose With a friend and send the link. You each bowl on your own phone and see the other ball roll.
Is it free?
Yes, every game, with no account and nothing to download.
