About Five Dice on Suvi
This page opens straight into Five Dice for two players on one device, the way the game is meant to be played: across the kitchen table, on the sofa or on a long train ride. Roll five dice up to three times a turn, keep the ones you want and fill one box on your score card; a cover screen hands the phone over between turns. Type your names if you like and the score keeps count across games; choose who goes first, or let the coin decide. Playing alone? The computer plays at three levels, and a friend far away can join by link.
How to play
- Choose vs Computer (Easy, Medium or Hard) or Two players, and who goes first.
- Tap Roll. Tap any dice you want to keep (they lift and say HELD), then roll the rest. You get three rolls a turn.
- Pick a box on your score card: each open box shows what your dice would score there. Tap it, then tap Score (or tap the box again).
- Every box is used once, even if it scores 0. Score 63 or more in ones to sixes for a 35-point bonus.
- After thirteen rounds each, the higher total wins.
Controls
On a phone or tablet: Tap a die to hold or release it, tap Roll to roll the others, then tap a box and Score to fill it. The score card and dice fit on one screen.
On a desktop: Click dice and boxes, or use the keys: 1 to 5 hold a die, R or Space rolls, the up and down arrows choose a box and Enter scores it. H asks for a hint.
Tips
- Aim for three of each number in the top half: three ones, three twos and so on make exactly 63, the bonus line.
- Keep chance for a bad turn. A high chance score is a waste of a safety net.
- With four in a row, roll the odd die for the large straight while you still have the small straight to fall back on.
- Scoring 0 in a hard box (four of a kind, five of a kind) is often better than wasting a high total in chance early.
- A full house or a large straight on your first roll is worth taking straight away.

Questions
- How do the scores work?
- Ones to sixes score the total of the matching dice. Three and four of a kind score the total of all five dice, a full house scores 25, a small straight (four in a row) 30, a large straight (five in a row) 40, five of a kind 50, and chance the total of all five dice.
- What is the bonus?
- If your top half (ones to sixes) adds up to 63 or more, you get 35 extra points. The score card shows how close you are.
- What happens if I roll a second five of a kind?
- If you have already scored 50 for five of a kind, each extra one earns a 100-point bonus, and you may score it as a full house or either straight at full value, or in any other open box.
- Are the dice fair?
- Yes. Every roll is random and the computer can't see what is coming: it plays the odds with the dice on the table, just as you do.
- How good is the computer?
- Easy grabs whatever scores most right now. Medium plays sensible rules of thumb. Hard works out the best odds for every possible hold and averages around 240 a game, which takes good play and some luck to beat.
- Can I play against a friend?
- Yes. Choose Two players and pass the phone each turn; both score cards stay on screen side by side. To play a friend on their own phone, choose Online with a friend and send the invite link. There's no account to make: it asks once for your date of birth, and online play isn't open to under-13s.
