Sea Battle

Hide your fleet, hunt theirs. Play the computer, or a friend on your own phones.

About Sea Battle on Suvi

Sea Battle is the classic guessing game of hidden ships. Each side places a fleet of five (a flagship of five squares, a cruiser of four, a frigate and a corvette of three, and a patrol boat of two) on a ten-by-ten sea, then you take turns calling a square to fire at. A miss is a splash, a hit is a hit, and when every square of a ship has been hit it sinks. Sink the whole fleet first to win. Play the computer at three levels (Easy fires at random, Medium hunts a ship down once it finds one, Hard works out where ships are most likely to be), or play a friend online, each on your own phone, so neither of you can see the other's ships.

How to play

  1. Place your fleet: drag a ship to move it, tap it to turn it, or press Shuffle. Then press Ready.
  2. Take turns firing: tap a square in the enemy's waters. You'll see a splash for a miss and a burst for a hit.
  3. Hit every square of a ship to sink it. The ships left to find are shown under the grid.
  4. Sink all five enemy ships before yours go down.

Tips

Questions

Can I play a friend?
Yes, online: choose With a friend and send the link, and you each play on your own phone, wherever you are. Your fleets stay secret because each of you only ever sees your own. There's no pass-the-phone mode for Sea Battle: with hidden ships, one shared screen means somebody peeks.
How good is the computer?
Easy fires at random. Medium searches on a chequerboard and finishes a ship off once it hits it. Hard works out every place the remaining ships could still be and fires where they most likely are; it needs about 44 shots on average to sink a fleet.
Does the computer cheat?
No. It only knows what you would know in its place: its own misses and hits and which ships it has sunk. It never looks at your fleet.
Can ships touch?
Yes, ships may sit next to each other, as long as they don't overlap. Shuffle spreads them out with a gap, which is usually the safer choice.
Is it free?
Yes, every mode is free with no account. One hint a game is free, and while Suvi is new a few more are on us, with no ad to watch.
