About Sea Battle on Suvi
This page opens online Sea Battle with a friend. Send a link and play on your own phones, wherever you both are: your friend taps it and the game starts. No account and no download; online play asks once for a date of birth (it isn't open to under-13s), rooms are invite-only and there is no typed chat, just a few friendly set phrases. Online is the purest way to play: each fleet stays hidden on its owner's phone, so there's no peeking and no passing. Rematches keep a running score, so a weekly game with a grandchild, a sister abroad or an old friend becomes a fixture. Nobody free right now? Play the computer at three levels, or pass one phone between two.
How to play
- Place your fleet: drag a ship to move it, tap it to turn it, or press Shuffle. Then press Ready.
- Take turns firing: tap a square in the enemy's waters. You'll see a splash for a miss and a burst for a hit.
- Hit every square of a ship to sink it. The ships left to find are shown under the grid.
- Sink all five enemy ships before yours go down.
Controls
On a phone or tablet: Drag ships to place them and tap to turn them. Tap a square to fire. Use the tabs to look at your own waters.
On a desktop: Drag ships with the mouse, click to turn (or R and the arrow keys). Click a square to fire, or move with the arrow keys and press Enter.
Tips
- Hunt on a chequerboard: the smallest ship covers two squares, so every other square is enough until you find one.
- After a hit, try the four squares around it; after two hits in a line, keep going along that line.
- When ships are sunk, the gaps left that are too small for the remaining ships can be skipped.
- Don't line your own ships up neatly along the edge: a good opponent checks the edges early.

Questions
- Can I play a friend?
- Yes, online: choose With a friend and send the link, and you each play on your own phone, wherever you are. Your fleets stay secret because each of you only ever sees your own. There's no pass-the-phone mode for Sea Battle: with hidden ships, one shared screen means somebody peeks.
- How good is the computer?
- Easy fires at random. Medium searches on a chequerboard and finishes a ship off once it hits it. Hard works out every place the remaining ships could still be and fires where they most likely are; it needs about 44 shots on average to sink a fleet.
- Does the computer cheat?
- No. It only knows what you would know in its place: its own misses and hits and which ships it has sunk. It never looks at your fleet.
- Can ships touch?
- Yes, ships may sit next to each other, as long as they don't overlap. Shuffle spreads them out with a gap, which is usually the safer choice.
- Is it free?
- Yes, every mode is free with no account. One hint a game is free, and while Suvi is new a few more are on us, with no ad to watch.
