About Pyramid Solitaire on Suvi
Pyramid solitaire is the card game of thirteens. Twenty-eight cards are dealt in a pyramid of seven rows, each card partly covered by the two below it, and the other twenty-four make the stock. Take away two free cards that add up to 13, or a king on its own, and work up until the pyramid is gone. On Suvi the daily deal is the same for everyone and our solver wins it before it goes live, so it can always be done. You get three passes through the stock (or one, if you like it hard), free undo, a hint when you're stuck, and the rest plays itself once only easy pairs are left. Want more? Another deal is a new random pyramid, checked winnable too.
How to play
- A card is free when no card lies on it. The bottom row starts free.
- Pick two free cards that add up to 13 and they're gone. Aces count 1, jacks 11, queens 12; a king is 13 and goes on its own.
- Tap the stock to turn its next card. The stock card and the top of the waste are free too, and can pair with a pyramid card or with each other.
- When the stock runs out, turn the waste back over. You get three passes in all (or one, in the settings).
- Clear all 28 pyramid cards to win. Cards left in the stock don't matter.
Controls
On a phone or tablet: Tap a free card, then its partner; tap a king on its own. You can also drag one card onto its partner. Tap the stock to turn a card. The panel under the pyramid shows what your picked card needs to make 13.
On a desktop: Click a free card, then its partner, or drag one onto the other. Arrow keys move between the free cards, Enter or Space picks, D turns the stock, H is a hint and U (or Ctrl+Z) undoes.
Tips
- Work from the bottom up, and clear the cards that cover the most others first.
- Before you pair a free card with the stock, check whether a card in the pyramid needs that same partner more.
- The top of the pyramid can only pair with the stock or the waste, so keep a partner for it in mind.
- Note the order of the waste: with three passes, it comes round again the same way.
- Kings are free points: take them as soon as they're uncovered.
Questions
- Is pyramid solitaire free?
- Yes. The daily deal and as many other deals as you like are free, with no account and nothing to download.
- Can every deal be won?
- Not every pyramid deal in general: about a third of random deals with three passes, and nine in ten with one pass, can't be won at all. That's why ours are checked. Our solver wins today's deal before it goes live, and Another deal keeps dealing until it finds one the solver can win.
- How many times can I go through the stock?
- Three times in all: you can turn the waste back over twice. For a harder game, choose one pass in the settings; that has its own daily deal, also checked winnable.
- What does the hint do?
- It shows the next move from a winning line worked out from where you are: the pair to take, or how many times to turn the stock. If there's no win left from your position, it tells you, so you know to undo.
- Can a card pair with the card lying on it?
- No. A card is only free once both cards on it are gone, so it can never pair with one of them.
- Can I play it on a computer?
- Yes. It works with the mouse and the keyboard as well as by touch on a phone or tablet.
