Falling Blocks

Pieces fall, you turn and fit them, full rows clear. Today's pieces are the same for everyone.

About Falling Blocks on Suvi

Falling Blocks is the puzzle where shapes of four squares drop from the top and you turn and slide them so they fit, filling whole rows to clear them. It starts gently and speeds up every ten lines. The daily gives everyone the same pieces in the same order, so your time to clear 25 lines is a real thing to compare with a friend; Endless just keeps going until the stack reaches the top. On a phone you tap the board to turn a piece, drag to move it and swipe down to drop it, or use the big buttons under the board; on a computer the arrow keys and the space bar do the same. You can hold one piece back for later and see the next one coming. Suvi's version has its own board (nine columns by eighteen rows), its own rounded pieces and a soft guide that shows where a piece will land.

How to play

  1. Press Play. A piece appears at the top and starts to fall.
  2. Slide it left or right and turn it so it fits the stack below.
  3. Fill a whole row from side to side and it clears. Clear several at once for more points.
  4. Hold a piece back for later if it doesn't fit now; the next piece is shown at the top.
  5. Daily: clear 25 lines. Endless: keep going as it speeds up.

Controls

On a phone or tablet: Tap the board to turn the piece, drag sideways to move it, drag down to bring it down faster and flick down to drop it. The buttons under the board do the same: hold, left, turn, right and drop.

On a desktop: Left and right arrows move, the up arrow (or X) turns, Z turns the other way, the down arrow brings it down faster, space drops it, C holds it, P pauses.

Tips

Questions

Is Falling Blocks free?
Yes. The daily and Endless are free with no account and nothing to download.
Are the pieces the same for everyone?
In the daily, yes: everyone gets the same pieces in the same order that day, so your time and score compare fairly. Endless is a new random run every time.
Does it get faster?
Yes. Every ten lines takes you up a level, and each level the pieces fall a little faster.
What happens if the stack reaches the top?
The game ends. Once per game you can clear the top of the stack and keep going, free while Suvi is new.
Can I play it on a computer?
Yes. It works with the keyboard (arrows, space and C) as well as by touch on a phone or tablet.
