About Dominoes on Suvi
This page opens online dominoes with a friend. Send a link and play the draw game, each on your own device, wherever you both are: your friend taps it and the tiles are dealt. Each of you only ever sees your own tiles; the boneyard stays face down for both, as it does on a real table. No account and no download; rooms are invite-only and there is no typed chat, just a few friendly set phrases. Rematches keep a running score, so a weekly game with a grandchild, a sister abroad or an old friend becomes a fixture. Fives and Threes and Mexican Train play online too, from their own pages. Nobody free right now? Play the computer at three levels, or share one device between two.
How to play Dominoes online with a friend
- Open this page and your game is made straight away: you get a link and a short code to share.
- Send the link to your friend in a message or an email, or read them the code. When they open it, the game starts.
- Play on your own devices, wherever you both are. Tap a ready-made message to say hello, nice one or good game.
How to play
- Choose vs Computer (Easy, Medium or Hard) or Two players, and who goes first. You each get seven tiles; the rest are the boneyard.
- The first player puts down any tile. After that, play a tile whose number matches one of the two open ends of the line.
- Tap a tile and the ends it fits light up, then tap a lit end (or drag the tile onto it). Doubles are laid across the line.
- Can't play? Tap Draw a tile until one fits. When only two tiles are left in the boneyard, you pass instead.
- Play all your tiles to win the hand and score the pips left in the other hand. If nobody can play, the lighter hand wins the difference. First to 100 wins.
Controls
On a phone or tablet: Tap a tile, then tap one of the lit ends of the line (or drag the tile there). Draw a tile and Pass appear when nothing fits.
On a desktop: Click a tile, then a lit end, or drag it there. Left and right arrows choose a tile, up and down choose an end, Enter plays, D draws, P passes, H asks for a hint.
Tips
- Get rid of your heavy tiles early: if the other player goes out, every pip you still hold is theirs.
- Keep a mix of numbers in your hand so you can follow whatever the ends become.
- Count what's been played. If five of the seven tiles with a 4 are on the table and you hold another, leaving a 4 open may leave your opponent stuck.
- Doubles are hard to place late in a hand, so lay them while their number is still open.
- Watch when your opponent draws: they had nothing for those two numbers, so leave those numbers open.
Questions
- Does my friend need an account?
- No. Your friend just opens the link you send, or types the short code, and you're playing. Neither of you signs up for anything, and there's nothing to download.
- Can we play on different devices?
- Yes. One of you can be on a phone and the other on a tablet, a laptop or a desktop computer: anything with an up-to-date web browser works.
- What if the connection drops?
- The game waits five minutes for whoever dropped out. Open the same link again, or reload the page, and you carry on where you left off.
- Who else can join our game?
- Nobody. A game is for two: only someone with your link or code can join, and once your friend is in, the room is full.
- What are the rules of dominoes?
- This is the draw game from a double-six set of 28 tiles. Each player takes seven; the rest are the boneyard. Match an open end with one of your tiles; if you can't, draw until you can, keeping the last two tiles back. The first out scores the pips left in the other hand; if the line is blocked, the lower hand scores the difference. First to 100 wins.
- What other dominoes games can I play?
- Fives and Threes, the English pub game, scores whenever the two ends of the line add up to a multiple of five or three, first to 61. Mexican Train uses a double-twelve set and gives every player their own train plus a shared one, over 13 rounds. Both have their own page here, with the same three ways to play.
- Can I play dominoes with a friend?
- Yes. Choose Two players to share one device: your tiles stay hidden, and a pass-the-device screen covers the table between turns until the next player taps. To play a friend on their own device, choose Online with a friend and send the link; each of you only ever sees your own tiles.
- How good is the computer?
- Easy plays any tile that fits. Medium plays its heaviest tiles first and keeps a spread of numbers. Hard counts the tiles: it remembers every number you couldn't match, works out which tiles you can still hold, and plays the move that does best when the rest of the hand is tried out many times, which often means blocking you.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Dominoes against the computer at Easy, Medium or Hard, a game for two on one device, and a game with a friend by invite link are all free, with no account and nothing to download. Your record at each level is kept on this device.
